Assessment literacy is more important than ever to inform professional learning and instructional practices.
There are many ways to assess student learning and achievement—as indicated by the number of assessments currently available or being developed by districts and states. To support the transition to the Common Core State Standards, college- and career-ready assessments, and new educator evaluation systems, we build educators’ capacity to:
- Understand and implement balanced assessment systems, including diagnostic tools that may be used to measure student growth
- Acquire knowledge and skills essential for aligning assessment formats and types to strategic, purposeful measures
- Develop a trained eye to determine which measures can generate data for making valid, reliable inferences
- Develop assessment items, performance-based measures, and related scoring guides and rubrics
As a result of this work, educators are empowered to accelerate their instruction with all students.
